Black Eyeliners & Urban Decay’s 27/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil

Black Eyeliners

I’m always on the lookout for new eyeliners to try because my eyelids are not particularly cooperative makeup-wise, most eyeliners smudges that I just told people that I’m constantly going for the smokey eye look.

My eyeliner staples have always been: Maybelline’s waterproof liquid eyeliner (a cheap, but very functional classic), MAC’s Fluidline gel eyeliner and Shu Uemura’s Painting gel eyeliner, but these products can only be applied at home in front of a steady mirror.

Half of the time, however, I don’t have the luxury of time to ever so gently apply liquid or gel liners and subsequently wait for them to dry.

What do I do when I have no time to spare? I line my eyes with a pencil liner during stoplight breaks.

For a while now, I’ve been using Dior’s Waterproof Crayon eyeliner pencil. About a month ago though, I’ve used up my last Dior pencil.

I looked into my closet to see what other eyeliners I had in stock and went through 2 Sephora eyeliners and 1 (previously used and recently reused) Mac eyeliner because of this makeup bag situation. That is, I changed makeup bags and the current one zips in a weird angle that pencils keep falling out all over the place, resulting in a loss of about 3-4 pencils already, including those mentioned.

Urban Decay’s 27/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil

This makeup bag mishap brings us to today’s beauty review.

As I was looking around my closet for more eyeliners, I found this Urban Decay 24/7 glide-on eye pencil that I bought from the Sephora store at the South Coast Plaza in LA a couple of months ago.

Yesterday, I tried out my new eye pencil and observed it for a day.

First off, I must gush about it and say that true to its name “24/7 Glide-On”, the pencil glides on quiet fabulously.

Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion

Texture/Application: It is a pencil but it draws like a liquid liner.

It’s very smooth. It’s soft and creamy. It draws well.

The resulting line is very opaque.  My pencil’s color is called “perversion”, which really is just an Urban Decay name for super matte black.

It glides on easily and quickly that I had no problem applying it while in the car, while waiting outside a friend’s house.

Staying Power: It’s waterproof and it stayed on until the end of the day. There was some minor smudging, but as I’ve mentioned, everything smudges with me so I’ll be lenient and just put the blame on my eyelids.

In conclusion, I think this one may just become my new favorite eyeliner pencil. It could prove to be better than Dior’s Waterproof Crayon Eyeliner pencil.
